Orzaks Pharmaceuticals’ Omega 3 Day Event – Blue Flag Blue Heart

A meaningful message from Ocean Brand, Turkish Society of Cardiology and Marine Life Protection Association on 3 March World Omega 3 Day: 

As Ocean Brand, we, together with the Turkish Society of Cardiology, the Environmental Education Foundation of Turkey, and the Association for the Protection of Marine Life, organized an event on March 3rd, World Omega 3 Day, to emphasize the relationship between the cleanliness of the seas and our health. Orzaks Pharmaceuticals’ General Manager, Yunus Emre Alimoğlu, said, “On March 3rd, World Omega 3 Day, we wanted to draw attention to the cleanliness of our seas, the diversity of underwater life, and the importance of Omega 3 for our heart health.”

As the leader of the food supplement industry, we launched the Omega 3 “awareness” project with the name of “Clean Sea Clean Heart, Blue Flag Blue Heart” together with the Association for the Protection of Marine Life, Turkish Society of Cardiology and TÜRÇEV. Within the scope of the project developed to raise awareness of Omega 3, which provides important contributions to heart, brain and eye health, and to provide a sustainable benefit to human health, diving was carried out in the Marmara Sea with one of the 10 blue flag sailboats in Turkey provided by the Association for the Protection of Marine Life. After the bottom cleaning, the garbage was sorted and recycled with the team including our General Manager Yunus Emre Alimoğlu.  

In an area of approximately 400 m2, 7 bags of garbage (plastic, glass, metal, packaging) were removed from a 37-minute dive with 6 divers at an average depth of 6 metres. In addition to these, large plastic and metal parts and a ghost hunting vehicle abandoned on the seabed were also recovered. Two crabs, which were caught in the nets on this ghost fishing vehicle and were about to die, were rescued and released back to the sea.

Yunus Emre Alimoğlu noted that we not only achieve commercial success but also fulfil our responsibilities towards the society and said, “Today, we are realising our Blue Flag Blue Heart project with the support of very valuable NGOs for our country in order to contribute to the society. I would like to thank the Turkish Society of Cardiology, Association for the Protection of Marine Life, Turkish Environmental Education Foundation for their contributions and support.” 

Emphasising that Ocean Brand’s core values include focusing on social health and making the environment a more livable place, Yunus Emre Alimoğlu said, “The Blue Flag Blue Heart project points to something very valuable for us, “Omega 3”. Some omega-3 supplements are obtained from fish or seafood. Today, marine pollution can raise concerns over the safety and quality of such supplements. Fish oil or other marine-derived omega-3 supplements must be meticulously processed to control pollution levels and ensure safety. It is precisely for these reasons that we are raising awareness on marine cleanliness and reminding once again our responsibilities towards future generations.
